Some answers to frequently asked questions (faq) about ADSL

What is Rate adaptive ADSL (also known as RADSL or Max ADSL)?

Rate adaptive ADSL , or R-ADSL, is a variant of ADSL that allows the provider to increase the maximum distance from your exchange by making adjustments to the upstream bandwidth. Standard ADSL only allows for the service to be provided within 3.5km of an exchange, R-ADSL allows the service to be provided upto 5.5km.

What is Non-rate adaptive ADSL?

A 'legacy' product that enables a choice of connection speeds from 512kbps to 2Mbps. Unlike the new rate adaptive technology the connection is set at the selected speed and service is limited to a short distance from the exchange.

What is ADSL2+ and 21CN?

ADSL2+ is an enhanced version of ADSL. The characteristics of the connection are increased performance in terms of stability and data transfer speeds. ADSL2+ provides speeds 'up to 24Mbps' - 3 times quicker than the faster ADSL connections.

21CN is BT's next generation network programme. Based on a national fibre network this technology and new infrastructure will enable communication in a range of formats and support the demand for voice and data convergence.

ADSL Products and Services offered by other providers

The business grade broadband we provide isn't always the most appropriate solution. Depending what type of useage the ADSL connection will be supporting on occassions we feel another provider has a better business broadband package we will suggest it and help you get it setup and installed.

* Please note: the actual speed achieved will depend on the quality of the line and the distance from your BT exchange.

User-friendly web development is a hit

Having decided to re-launch our staff canteen as a public restaurant and take-away, we needed to embark on a program of marketing it to the local business community. Clearly this included web site development. Viper Web Design did a first class job in building a site that is graphically attractive whilst straight forward to navigate.

With the Content Management System and excellent documentation the site is also very easy to update, significantly reducing ongoing maintenance costs. The design and set up fees from Viper were also extremely competitive.
